Sheeba Chadha on ageism and social media
When asked about ageism in the industry, Sheeba Chaddha said, “Ageism is hugely prevalent in society and this industry as well. And, it’s not just about how you look, it’s also about everything that’s associated with it. So, yeah something worth looking at seriously.”
Speaking of social media in today’s times, the actress said, “Social media is, of course, the scariest phenomenon. We all know the good that comes with it. But the impact of this phenomenon is really going to be quantifiably and qualifiably clear in times to come. We have been altered forever as a species. Internally, externally, overall.”
She added, “I am not a part of it. But I do feel there needs to be a little bit of space and empathy. I agree that actors are a part of it. We gain from that and it works also but thoda uski respect karo.”
Sheeba Chadha on being missing in the current generation
“I think, nowadays when I look at the current actors, everything looks the same. There’s a commonality code, you know, to put it crudely. I think around the ’90s, you saw people, and it’s not anyone’s fault, it’s just how the way things are. The industry is another kind of beast now yaar, so is social media. Creative lives are also led a certain way. Which is why it is a taxing filter for anybody in the creative field.”
